Summary

It is one of the rarest shearwater of the world and breeds only in the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea. The conservation status is critically endangered.

Phenology

This species breed in the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. After the breeding period, from June, they migrate to the Eastern North Atlantic, mainly to the Bay of Biscay, to moulting. Between the months of September and November they migrate towards the South to their main wintering area which is in the Balearic Sea.

It breeds only in the Balearic Islands and there are an estimated 3000 to 5000 breeding pairs.

Habitat

It occurs in seaside areas along the coastal strip.
