Description

This area is located in Alaska in the United States of America. It covers most portion of the Alaska Range, which includes the highest mountain in Alaska: Mount McKinley. In the area there are the following habitats: deciduous taiga, tundra, glaciers, mountains, valleys, lakes and watercourses.

Ornithological importance

In this area there is a record of 169 species, of which about 100 are migratory breeding. Highlight to the Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus), White-tailed Ptarmigan (Lagopus leucura), Rock Ptarmigan (Lagopus muta), Black-capped Chickadee (Parus atricapillus), Common Redpoll (Carduelis flammea), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator), Surfbird (Aphriza virgata) and the Wandering Tattler (Heteroscelus incanus).
