Description

This area is situated to the south west of Lake Wakatipu in the South Island of New Zealand, and includes a mountain range with rugged terrain.
In the area there are the following habitats: mountains, cirque glacier, glacial lakes, tussock grasslands, herbfields, fellfields, glacier valleys, river valleys, streams, farms, shrubs, and beech forests.

Ornithological importance

In this area there are records of the South Island Wren (Xenicus gilviventris), do New Zealand Falcon (Falco novaeseelandiae), da Black-fronted Tern (Sterna albostriata), da Double-banded Plover (Charadrius bicinctus), do Yellow-crowned Parakeet (Cyanoramphus auriceps) e do Kea (Nestor notabilis).
