Description

This area is located in the Nyanza province of Kenya, and includes a wetland in the delta of the Yala River, near Lake Victoria.
In the area there are the following habitats: lakes, streams, papyrus swamps, flooded grasslands, and shrublands.

Ornithological importance

In this area there is a record of at least 172 species. Highlight to the Papyrus Yellow Warbler (Chloropeta gracilirostris), Papyrus Gonolek (Laniarius mufumbiri), Papyrus Canary (Serinus koliensis), Carruthers's Cisticola (Cisticola carruthersi), White-winged Scrub-warbler (Bradypterus carpalis), and Red-chested Sunbird (Nectarinia erythrocerca).
