Description

This area is located in the autonomous region of Extremadura in Spain, and covers the Arrocampo reservoir.
In the area there are the following habitats: reservoir with marsh vegetation, and forests (dehesas).

Ornithological importance

The reservoir is the best site for observation of marsh birds in Extremadura. Highlight the occurrence of Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio), Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus), Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides), Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea), Bearded Parrotbill (Panurus biarmicus), Eurasian Penduline-tit (Remiz pendulinus), Savi's Warbler (Locustella luscinioides), Great Reed-warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus), Eurasian Reed-warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus), Aquatic Warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola), and Great Bittern (Botaurus stellaris).
