Description
This area is located in the Rift Valley province of Kenya, and includes mostly open savannah. It is bordered to the south by Ewaso Nyiro River, which separates it from the Buffalo Springs National Reserve.In the area there are the following habitats: lowland rolling grasslands, arid shrublands, inselbergs, rocky cliffs, streams, doum palms, riverine forests, and riverine sandbanks.
Ornithological importance
In this area there is a record of at least 380 species. Highlight to the Donaldson-Smith's Sparrow-weaver (Plocepasser donaldsoni), Vulturine Guineafowl (Acryllium vulturinum), Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius), Von der Decken's Hornbill (Tockus deckeni), Pygmy Falcon (Polihierax semitorquatus), Somali Ostrich (Struthio molybdophanes), Somali Golden-breasted Bunting (Emberiza poliopleura), Somali Bee-eater (Merops revoilii), and Somali Crombec (Sylvietta isabellina).Geographic information
