Present in nine of the ten islands of the archipelago of Cape Verde: Santo Antão, Sao Vicente, Santa Luzia, São Nicolau, Sal, Boavista, Maio, Santiago and Brava. Occurs on rocky slopes, coastal cliffs, lava plains but also on farms, villages and gardens.
